At the Somerville School of Music, we offer several different types of lessons for all kinds of inspiring musicians. Here’s what we have to offer!

    Private Piano

Reading is central to my philosophy. My goal is to make the student independent as quickly as possible.
    ~Millie Thompson

I focus on all musical concepts: Proper Technique, Coordination, Rhythm, Reading, Memory and beginnings on composing. I emphasize the need to become more independent so he/she can apply concepts outside of lessons. Live performance is also encouraged of all students to build the confidence and mental endurance.

I have a strong belief that individuals with disabilities can also learn to play the piano. Lessons are adapted to the learning needs of the individual.

    ~Karen Kowalski

    Private Guitar

Students focus on warm ups, scales, reading music and improvistaion. Students will also study music theory and ear training and will also develop music reading skills, music theory and ear training will also be studied. All genres of music taught.

Private Woodwinds – Flute, Clarinet, Saxes

Student’s current abilities will be assessed and a course of instruction will be devised off of the students needs, ability and taste. Close attention will be noted to rhythm, articulation, proper instrumental sound and general musicianship.
